Innovations Alliance
The Problem
Evangelical
families are failing to win and keep their own children in the Christian faith.
The Vision
To create an innovation movement among evangelical churches that seeks to turn the tide by acknowledging the home as the center of God’s redemptive strategy.
The Strategy
The StrongFamilies Innovation Alliance is a coalition of leading churches committed to an “open architecture” methodology for discovering, implementing and sharing cutting edge family ministry programs targeting three areas of concern...
- Strengthening Relationships: Children need to experience a loving
relationship between mom and dad that reflects the gospel and between parent
and child that makes kids want to embrace their parents’ beliefs.
- Winning Our Kids: The overwhelming majority of those who ever
become Christians do so as children, most before age thirteen. Most parents recognize
it is there job to pass faith to their kids in the context of the home, yet feel
ill-equipped to do so.
- Keeping Our Youth: An alarmingly high percentage of teens raised in Christian families abandon their parents’ faith during the teen and young adult years. And while this is trend has created tension between parents and youth ministers, partnership between church and home is vital to keeping our youth.
Game Plan
- Work with about 15 core churches to co-create a common vision, strategy
and framework for learning together for the benefit of each respective congregation.
Commitment includes…
- Travel to and participation in semi-annual innovation sessions
- Open idea sharing for common benefit of participating churches
- Travel to and participation in semi-annual innovation sessions
- Establish Alliance sponsor relationships (Family Life & Willow Creek
Association) in order to expand the movement among churches.
- Lay the foundation for motivating and equipping other churches with what we discover through sponsored events.

The Innovation Alliance is led by Kurt Bruner - Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Lake Pointe Church. Kurt works with Dr. John Trent as Executive Director of The Center for Strong Families. Kurt is an author, former Group Vice President with Focus on the Family and co-founder of the Heritage Builders Association.
