Dr. Tony Wheeler

I have had the incredible blessing of working with individuals, couples, and families for over 25 years, helping them find freedom and hope.

For me, it all began in 1986. I was a junior in college, and one evening I picked up a book sitting on a coffee table.

I ended up reading the entire book in one night: and it changed my life.

The book was The Blessing by Dr. John Trent and Gary Smalley. For the first time, I had found something that gave me hope and confidence that I could one day become a Godly husband and father.

It also inspired me to take action in my career as well. I decided that I wanted to spend my life encouraging those who might be going through difficult times in their lives, marriages, or families.

That brings us to today…as well as working with StrongFamilies, I also have had the incredible privilege of speaking and counseling in spiritual awareness and direction in a variety of ways:

For the last 7 years I have been a professor at Barclay College in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

I have been a speaker at many keynote and workshop events like American Association for Christian Counselors.

I’ve had the blessing to appear on radio programs, such as with Jim Daly for Focus on the Family and on the Chris Fabry Live! show.

I founded the Family Ministry Institute, a ministry which seeks to provide spiritual direction, consulting, and education to benefit and encourage individuals, couples, families, and churches.

I have also been an instructor at Kansas State University, Manhattan Christian College, Phoenix Seminary, and a guest lecturer at Pepperdine and Moody Theological Seminary.

Since 1987, I have served in a variety of ministry roles including: a youth pastor, associate pastor, senior pastor, the Director of Counseling, and a marriage and family pastor for a large church in Scottsdale, AZ.,

I have had the blessing of seeing many relationships repaired, and individuals healed through counseling, ministry, and seminars.

However, my greatest blessing is being married to Stacey. We have been married for 29 years and have three grown children: Isaac 28, Audrey 22, and Adele 25 who is married and gave Stacey and I the brightest and most beautiful granddaughter ever born, Amelia Grace.
